Have you played in an LJ based game before? yes
Currrently Played Characters: none

Character Information

General
Canon Source: Supernatural
Canon Format: TV series
Character's Name: Joanna Beth 'Jo' Harvelle
Character's Age: 24
Conditional:n/a

What form will your character's NV take? It would be Jo's flip phone that's moderately touched up in order to reach the standards of being able to post a network post from video and/or holograms as well as text and audio.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: She has no superhuman powers, but she is able to handle a gun and fight if she needs to.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them?
Superhuman Tracking;  the ability to track an individual or object through supernatural means; sometimes referred to as "pathfinding."
Even though it would be somewhat unlikely for the power to surface because of how she already views powers in general, Jo has already hunted the supernatural, and the ability to track down someone or something would easily fit into what she does already, it would just make it easier. She's always wanted to live up to what her father did, and Jo is keen on never giving up on something. She's too determined to give up, which is one of the reasons why tracking would fit so well for her.     Hunting takes time, and with an ability that helps her even more, she would gain more confidence in what she does already and be able to plan how the hunt would work and what would need to happen in order for her to track whatever it was she was pursuing successfully. However, if she's feeling particularly upset for whatever reason, her power would become more or less useless. Her emotions would mess with her concentration and conflict with he readings rendering them null and void and quite possibly leading her off of the correct path. She would be able to track most supernatural beings, but because of how in canon hunters either want to stay hidden unless they're genuinely close to another hunter, she would not be able to track down other hunters. The knife, which she would be bringing with her, could act as a compass to help guide her while tracking if the power surfaces.
Weapons:
-A knife that has her father's name engraved into it. He was a hunter, but he was killed on a job. It's small, but she thinks of it as something precious and takes on a hunting job, even if it's not very useful for protection. In Siren's Pull, she would most likely take it everywhere she goes.
-A shotgun that she used when she was first introduced in the series. She held it up to Dean when she assumed he was an intruder.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: her spn wiki and her wikipedia
Point in Canon: 2.14, when Dean leaves the bar claiming he'll call her.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history:

Character Personality:
Jo is first introduced as the daughter of Ellen, the owner of  the Roadhouse. She's seen raising a shotgun to Dean's back with false assumptions that Sam and Dean have hostile intentions, which just adds to her do-it-yourself personality. When Dean disarms her, she punches him in the face with no hesitation. She has a spark to her that screams determination and stubbornness. After the small misconception is settled, her persona changes. Behind her tough and snarky attitude she has a lot of heart in her.

She never once betrayed her friends or family, besides the time when she goes to investigate a ghost, joining Sam and Dean in their investigation after convincing Ash to cover for her. Despite her sneaking away from her mother, Jo is loyal and self-serving. She wanted to prove herself to the both of them, along with her mother, who has kept Jo on a tight leash when it came to hunting because of her father's death and the secret she kept from her, which Jo didn't know about until after the hunting trip. When Sam is possessed, he teases her about her crush on Dean, trying to convince her that he'll always see her as the 'little sister' type. A part of Jo knows it's true, but she doesn't stray from believing in Dean and the small ray of hope that perhaps, one day, she'll have a chance to go after him without any interruptions.

Jo holds a lot of confidence in her, and her confidence and flirting goes hand in hand. When she first meets Dean and Sam, her immediate attraction to Dean is more than just a little obvious. Her entire demeanor changes from tomboy to sweetheart with a little sarcasm, and she doesn't back down too easily when Dean tries to convince her that the two of them wouldn't work out (ie: being scared of her mom, Ellen). She doesn't just use her confidence for flirting, though. If she's being talked down to or teased in a way that she doesn't agree with, she will not hesitate to stand up or herself and bring you right down with her. She wants to do what she wants to do, and no one can change that about her. Her mother plays a big role in what she does, being the only person that Jo will actually put up with when being told not to do something. Jo is a free bird, and Ellen wanted her to stay away from hunting and keep to the Roadhouse where it was safe. Despite her mother's wishes, though, she was no longer able to deal with being cooped up. When her, Dean and Sam were hunting a ghost that had settled itself in a chamber beneath an apartment building, she convinces the two of them to let her stay because she knows that she can help.  Even though she does end up getting caught by the ghost and getting trapped in a small space in the chamber, she was able to remain somewhat composed and defend herself while Dean and Sam were searching for her and another girl that fell victim to the poltergeist.

She isn't the kind of person who would immediately open up to a person upon meeting them. For her, it takes a lot of time and a lot of trust in order for her to confide in someone. She ricochets personal questions with a snarky attitude and a lot of sarcasm in order to protect herself. She's quick to snap at people who question her and tends to use this as a way to avoid any kind of emotional confrontation, even though she does have a lot on her mind. Jo knows she can't tell just anyone about what her family does, and what goes on at the Roadhouse at all. Because she was kept sheltered from most things going on out of her mother's sight, she tends not to reach out to people. She has a deep insecurity of letting people really get to know her, and someone who doesn't know Jo will probably assume that she's being antisocial and doesn't even like getting to know other people. The truth is, though, she's scared of being hurt and she uses sarcasm as a way to push people away instead of being herself and pulling them closer. Jo also has a lot of spunk in her, which is mixed in with her bit of tomboy-ish personality. She's not a girly-girl; she knows how to handle a gun and she likes to let off steam by shooting cans if she needs to. If someone were to try to tell her that girls aren't any good with guns or can't handle hunting, she will not hesitate to prove them wrong. She likes knowing that she is strong enough to be able to take care of herself in any given situation. When she's angry or upset, she broods, often taking it out on the people around her. She gets snappy and even more sarcastic than her usual self, using it in hopes that it will somehow make her feel better. When confronted about how she's feeling, though, she'll lie or deny it, which goes back to being scared of letting people in.

Jo will not back down from any sort of fight. She's stubborn and determined, often a bit too ready to get her hands on a situation that interests her. She  won't let up until she finally gets what she wants, and when she does, she's professional about it. She argues continuously with her mother to let her do what makes her happy, and Ellen puts her foot down until Jo takes control of the situation and disappears without telling her. After Jo had gotten back from hunting the poltergeist, Ellen allows her work by herself in a bar in Duluth, even if she doesn't seem too pleased about it. When Sam was possessed and tying Jo up, the demon told her stories of what happened to her father when he died, and she refused to believe it even though there wasn't any other proof telling her otherwise; but there was no way that she was going to believe a demon's lies.

She's smart and proud of herself, and her ego often gets the best of her. She likes to show off and strut about when she's right and will definitely love to call someone out when they're wrong and say "I told you so" even if it can come off as a bit childish. She's charming and aloof when she wants to be, especially if she's running a con for a case or otherwise. She likes to hide herself, which is understandable; she's had a knife collection since a young age and that simply wasn't normal, not for her. She didn't like to play with other girls and their dolls, and she herself refers to herself as a freak in an argument with her mother when she suggests going back to school.  Jo is also very predictable. When she's caught off-guard on an emotional subject or embarrassed, it's easy to tell when she's uncomfortable or fidgety. She might try to change to topic or avoid eye contact and have trouble with wording her sentences without a bit of hesitation.

Her strength and curiosity fit together quite well. Jo has been through quite a lot. She knows her father died while hunting, but it was what really pushed her towards hunting in the first place. She does whatever she can to help get rid of things disturbing the natural way of life and she can't stand leaving something suspicious alone without investigating it first. This can be a dangerous trait to have, but she manages quite well, even if it pulls her into trouble. When Dean had gone after Sam while he was possessed, she insisted that she help out, but he denied her. It bothers her to think that in some ways she really can't help out the people that she cares about.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game:
Character Plans: I haven't played Jo in a setting like this before, and I thought it would really help me understand her and improve her more. It's an interesting setting, and Jo would be able to adapt easily with what experience she has from hunting. Jo would have to rely on teamwork and more planning than usual, which she's used to, but she isn't used to the copious amounts of monsters at a time, so it would be interesting to play out how she would reevaluate her plans and be more careful than she is already. Jo's an amazing character to play; she's incredibly smart and strong, which made me want to pick her up in the first place. Some of her canon mates are already in SP, and since she's coming from so early in the series, I'd also really like to have her interact with those she hasn't seen or heard of, while rekindling friendships from the ones she does know. She never gets too close to people emotionally as well, so I want her to be able to realize that she can't just rely on herself in a situation like this. Cross-canon wise, I feel like she would be more open to different worlds and types of people because of the things she's seen and been through, but it would still take her some time to trust them, unless they were completely human. Ghosts, vampires or werewolves were never on the top of her get to know list, so even if those people were good, it would take even longer to trust them remotely. However, I believe after some time she would be able to realize that every one of them are in the situation together, and Jo would start to believe that not all supernatural beings are necessarily 'evil' and need to be killed.

Appearance/PB: She is played by Alona Tal and here is a picture.

First Person Sample
[The NV's feed is uneven at first while Jo figures out what she's pressing isn't the number to her mom's bar at home. No, it's a video. The sun is blaring down over her, and she squints up at it before looking back to her NV. Frowning, she finally speaks.]

What is going on? Really, I'd like some kind of explanation for what all this is.

[The NV is shaking slightly, giving the impression she's walking as she talks.]

I get that I'm in some city called Siren's Port, but I'd like a little more information. I got most of the basics from the posters up around the baseball field, but honestly? They're not really going to get me anywhere. I'd like to know where the 'Go Home' sign is.

[No, she's not happy about this. No, she is not going to be polite.]

If anyone knows a Dean or Sam, I'd be pretty damned happy to know.

[And no, that button is not the one she wanted to press. The feed ends abruptly.]

Third Person Sample
The first thing that Jo thinks about when she realizes she's in a giant baseball diamond is whether or not she needs to go to the bathroom because the mix of dizziness and nausea she was feeling. Closing her eyes doesn't help, and she doesn't want to make herself anymore dizzy than she already is. She takes a few deep breaths, trying to figure out what it was she was doing last. It takes her longer than it should, the disorientation making it harder to access memories correctly. That's when she realizes that she's scared. Scared for herself, scared for being here, scared for why or how she got to be in a baseball field.

Calm down. She can't be scared. She has to find out where to go next and how she's going to leave. It's her priority, even if wandering aimlessly might be unsafe. This could all be a dream for all she knew, and she would wake up perfectly safe in the comfort of her own bed. But that can't be right. If this were a dream, it wouldn't feel so real, so tangible. The graffiti that surrounded her was almost eerie, and it kept her from moving for a few moments. She had to regain her mentality completely before moving -- staggering about was going to help her as much as it would to do nothing about what was going on. She had never felt so lost in her life. It wrecked her knowing if this wasn't a dream, she wouldn't see home for quite a while before she could figure out how to leave. Finally, she decides to take a look around, to survey everything, to make sure there weren't any sort of enemies hiding around her.

Nothing. Another deep breath. She was safe, at least for now. Jo had to proceed, she couldn't let this happen. Whoever or whatever took her, she wasn't going to make it easy for them. If there was a way in, there's a way out. She reaches for her knife instinctively, somewhat surprised to find it on her person. She'd been too distracted, to confused, to realize what was already on her. She was armed. She was safe. With a glance downwards, she spots her shotgun beside her. It wasn't any sort of situation she would hope for, but weapons only produced more safety, more defense. A wave of relief swept through her. She will survive this, whatever it was, and she will escape.
